WEST MIDLANDS POLICE GREAT WAR MEMORIAL SITE
Welcome to the website for the Birmingham City Police
Great War Memorial.
571 members of the Birmingham City Police served in the
military during the Great War 1914-1918, of whom 56 paid the ultimate sacrifice.
As part of the Centenary Commemorations, this website
was developed to pay tribute to all 571, beginning an ongoing process to gather as much information as
possible about all those brave souls who answered their country's call when war
came in 1914.
This work is predominantly being carried out by former members of
the Military History Society of the West Midlands Police (now, sadly, disbanded), with assistance from
The West Midlands Police providing access to their archives.
Our hope is to obtain photographs and personal details of
all 571 names on the War Memorial.
If you have information on any of the names on this website, photographs, documents or memories, please get in touch so we can make this site as comprehensive as possible.
